The Florida Keys is just around 90 miles from Cuba. So it’s no surprise that we would have some of the best Cuban spots around town. Here are the top three Cuban restaurants in the Upper Florida Keys.
1. Harbor Cafe
This is an adorable Cuban cafe that offers the BEST breakfast & lunch. The owners have done a fantastic job with the coastal decor. Although it can get packed they always make sure to get the food out quickly & are reasonably priced. Although there are not a lot of seating options… I’ve been told that they’re working on that. Favorite breakfast items on the menu would be the chicken empanadas with the red sauce & homewrecker breakfast burrito. For lunch the steak sandwich or the chicken protein bowl. Regardless, anything you get on the menu will blow you away!
2. Sunrise Cuban Market-
This is one of the most authentic Cuban places you’ll find in the Upper Keys. They are known for their famous cafe con Leche & let me tell you, you’ll be WIRED! You can order from the ladies outside by the little window or you can go inside for a cafeteria-style spread of rice, beans, chicken & more. This is definitely a place I would recommend on the fly, not a great atmosphere.
3. Habanos on the Creek-
Known for their two famous locations in Tavernier & Lowermattecumbe, both on the water. Habanos creekside is a small shack-like Cuban restaurant that offers great sandwiches & fried baskets.
