Local secrets to ensure the best Key West Trip!
Imagine if we had a world wide shut down, an unknown virus that spread like wildfire. Cities were shut down, masks & gloves were worn religiously & headlines wrote ‘Who Bought all the Toilet Paper.’ Yes I just went there. We so quickly forget the traumatic, deadly & BIZARRE year we faced.
We’ve started to realize just how important it is to travel, connect with loved ones & experience this wonderful fleeting world. That being said we all know how stressful planning a trip can be, let alone ones that are out of the country and involve multiple Covid Tests & the stress of failing one.
Leaving Key West as the perfect Post Covid destination! Escape to the Southern tip
of Florida & experience a part of America you didn’t know existed, immerse yourself with a diverse group of people with the same laid back energy we’ve all been in need of.
As a local Keys Kid, I’ve spent many trips down to Key West. Whether it was a wild spring break, Holiday trip with the family or a rejuvenating girls trip- I’ve come up with the ultimate itinerary for your post Covid vacation. So doctors orders- it’s time to unwind down in the Islands!
This was the perfect little get away for our group. I suggest going during late February/ Early January the rates should be lower & the use for the hot tub will be there. Staying in a Key West Conch Cottage is the perfect way to feel Key West & it’s history- along with all it has to offer. Not to mention this was a PRIME location on Duval Street. Within walking distance to everything in Key West!
Where to Brunch:
This has become our classic Key West spot. Although sometimes it feels like it’s everyone’s. So go early because you’re usually dealing with a wait. Thankfully if the wait is too Long look across the street to la creperie French café. They have great choices to choose from & were pretty quick!
This is one the nicest places in Key West. The atmosphere is luxurious with a splash of anything goes. They have impeccable sense of style in the restaurant & bring a towel to soak in the sun & pool. This is prime information because finding a beach can be difficult in the Keys. If you go during brunch make sure to ask about their breakfast cart- That’s all I’ll say on that. Just order it.
Where to Lunch:
This is a classic Key West spot, on the water & you can show up in a bikini if you want. Great seafood. For the younger crowd I encourage hitting Dantes Pool first then walking over to Half Shell Raw Bar after! They also have pay to park right next door to this.
Fun little spot in Key West to lay by the beach & experience true beach front dining. The cocktails here are also super fun! This spot is also located near the butterfly sanctuary & the most southern point Statue where you can take a fun picture!
Where to Have Dinner:
This is one of the few places in Key West where your meal is just as outstanding as the waterfront view. The staff is incredibly friendly & professional. Just make sure to make a reservation if you can!
So here’s the thing, we actually had THE WORST waiter of life here. However the food was SOOO beyond incredible so I didn’t want to entirely cancel out this place! The ambiance was really nice as well. Just go during the slow season & I’m sure you’ll get someone friendly.
Favorite Excursions:
This is by far the BEST kept secret when visiting Key West. I can seriously not say enough about this experience. You’ll need to call latitudes on Sunset Key & make a lunch/dinner reservation. Then you’ll take the ferry over to the private island for some 5 star beachfront dining. The hostess will give you all the information you need. Dress nicely for this!!
Talk about getting bang for your buck! Highly recommend the sunset cruise. Close to sunset you’ll board a massive catamaran, where you’ll be welcomed by live music, all you can eat appetizers & all you can drink cocktails/beer/wine. If you’re really feeling adventurous you can also book snorkeling trips & much more! Call (305) 433-0660 for reservations!
